Fourth stop on the hotel series, and this one is for a specific kind of traveler: you want Sukhumvit’s everything-on-your-doorstep energy, you want an apartment-style room with a view instead of a boxed corridor hotel, and you want a guest-friendly front desk. Sakura Sky Residence delivers exactly that — and prices start around US$33 a night.
The location: Soi 33, the calm side of Sukhumvit
Sakura Sky sits on Sukhumvit Soi 33, the quieter, more residential end of the strip — but “quiet” here is relative: it’s about a 10-minute walk to BTS Phrom Phong and under 500 meters to the Emporium shopping mall, with Phrom Phong’s restaurant scene filling the gaps in between.
Soi 33 itself is known for its row of upscale Japanese restaurants and bars — a different flavor from the backpacker chaos of Soi 11 or the intensity around Nana. You get the central Sukhumvit position without sleeping in the middle of it.
The stay: apartment-style, with honest trade-offs
This is a residence, not a full-service hotel — 64 apartment-style rooms, all with air conditioning and city views. What you gain is space and a live-in feel that boxed hotel rooms can’t offer. What you give up is some polish: it’s fair to say the building shows its age in places, and a few online reviewers have noted maintenance niggles.
For me the math still works: daily housekeeping, free WiFi, a rooftop bar, 24-hour reception and luggage storage cover the essentials, and the apartment layout makes longer stays dramatically more livable.

Guest friendly: no joiner-fee theater
The deciding factor, as always in this region: Sakura Sky is guest friendly. Invite a guest back and the front desk simply registers their ID — no per-guest fee, no midnight negotiation, no attitude. If you’ve read the La Paix review, you know this is the filter I apply before every booking in Southeast Asia, and Bangkok’s international chains fail it far more often than they pass.

Verdict
Sakura Sky Residence is the pick if you want: apartment space, a Soi 33 address with the whole Sukhumvit machine within walking distance, guest-friendly policies, and rates from the mid-$30s. If you need five-star polish, look elsewhere — but then you already knew that trade. I’ll keep this post updated if anything changes.
